In Brief: Chase Exec to Quit; Fed Seat Possible

Carol J. Parry, who is said to be a contender for a spot on the Federal Reserve Board, is planning to resign her post at Chase Manhattan Corp.

Ms. Parry, 58, told senior staff members she plans to resign as executive vice president and head of community development at the end of June. Ms. Parry had withdrawn from consideration for the 14-year post on the Fed last year for personal reasons, but observers said her interest in the job has been revived in recent weeks.

If appointed, Ms. Parry would fill the seat vacated last year by Fed Governor Susan Phillips, who is now dean of the business school at George Washington University. Ms. Parry told Chase staffers in a memorandum that she plans to stay involved in community activities.
