Sun Bancorp Names Executive

MIDDLE ATLANTIC

Sun Bancorp in Vineland, N.J., has hired a PNC Bank executive to lead its newly acquired Delaware operation.

Warren C. Engle will start June 1 as president and chief executive officer of Wilmington-based Sun National Bank Delaware. The bank was formed in December from eight branches bought from Beneficial National Bank.

Mr. Engle was a vice president and senior banker in Philadelphia of the PNC Bank Corp. subsidiary. He will succeed Robert W. Pierce, a longtime Sun Bancorp official who left this spring to work in American International Group's consumer finance group in Wilmington.

Before joining PNC, Mr. Engle worked for Wilmington Trust Co. as a vice president and a manager of various departments, including credit policy and lending. He has been a banker since 1969 and is an adjunct finance professor at the University of Delaware.

Sun Bancorp has about $1.5 billion of assets, including nearly $200 million in Delaware.
