Money Fund Assets Tick Up in Week on Institutional Inflows

Assets in the nation's money market mutual funds rose 0.5%, to $1.452 trillion, for the week that ended May 19, primarily on inflows from institutional investors.

Institutional money market fund assets increased 1.9%, to $595.05 billion, while retail money market funds were up 0.05%, to $857.12 billion, the Investment Company Institute reported.

Institutional fund assets in taxable portfolios rose 1.1%, to $546.06 billion, and assets in tax-exempt portfolios were up 2.1%, to $48.99 billion.

On the retail side, assets in taxable money market funds dipped 0.02%, to $710.86 billion; assets in tax-exempt funds increased 0.4%, to $146.26 billion.
