B of A Minority Business Job Goes to NationsBank Veteran

Bank of America Corp. said Monday that it had named Dorothy Brothers national director and head of minority business development. Ms. Brothers held a similar role at NationsBank Corp.

She was selected over Joyce Tabak, who headed the old BankAmerica's minority business development group. Ms. Tabak has been named a regional manager in Los Angeles for minority business development.

Ms. Brothers will be responsible for seeking vendors owned by women, minorities, or people with disabilities. The 30-year veteran of NationsBank had worked in its minority business development group since 1993.

The new Bank of America, which was formed by NationsBank's merger last year with BankAmerica Corp., said 15% of its procurement budget this year would be spent with minority-owned businesses.

Last year the two companies spent $258 million in all with minority businesses. A spokesman said the merged company intends to top that this year.
