In Brief: OTS Examinations Exec to Join JPM Chase

Scott Albinson is stepping down as the Office of Thrift Supervision's managing director of examinations, supervision, and consumer protection to become a managing director in JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s financial institutions and governments group.

Mr. Albinson will work in the company's investment bank, providing advice to thrift institutions, banks, specialty finance companies, insurance companies, diversified financial services firms, and governments, according to an internal JPMorgan Chase memo dated Thursday.

Mr. Albinson has held his current OTS job since 1998. Recently he has been its point man in negotiations over the Basel II and Basel IA capital proposals. He has worked at the agency since its creation in 1989. Before that he had worked at the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, the agency's predecessor.

"Scott has been a valuable employee of OTS and our predecessor organization for 22 years," OTS Director John Reich said in an internal memo dated Thursday and obtained by American Banker. "His knowledge and expertise on a wide variety of banking and supervision issues will indeed be missed by us at OTS."

His last day at the OTS will be Jan. 19, and he will begin his work at JPMorgan Chase in New York on Jan. 22, the memos said.
