Fifth Third Bancorp is working with health care software company Emdeon Inc. to strengthen the bank's RevLink Solutions platform, which health care providers use for handling payment transactions and remittance information.

Emdeon's Payment Automation platform will allow RevLink users to handle more of their work within the same program instead of having to toggle between separate programs, as is the case in some billing scenarios, Stuart Hanson, a vice president and product line manager for health care solutions at Fifth Third, said in an interview on Friday.

Fifth Third, of Cincinnati, said in a press release on Monday that the partnership will also help health care providers eliminate paper and save time and money in their payments processing functions.

"Now more than ever, health care providers are looking to their banks and technology partners for cost savings solutions to help bend the cost curve," Tom Turi, the senior vice president of financial services for Emdeon, said in the press release.
