Discover Bids Au Revoir to Foreign Currency Fee

Discover Financial Services said Monday that it's dropping the Foreign Currency Fee on its cards.

As of Sunday, the Riverwoods, Il. company said it will no longer charge the 2 percent fee. Foreign transaction fees usually help banks increase revenue.

Discover's decision to drop the tax comes at a time when its customers are increasingly sensitive to bank fees, a spokeswoman said in an email.

Earlier this year, JPMorgan Chase eliminated its foreign transaction fee on its Sapphire Premium cards, giving cardholders a break on its 3% fee.
