Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the target of a Comerica acquisition as Sterling Bancorp. It bought Sterling Bancshares.

CommunityBank of Texas has appointed a longtime Houston banker as its president.

Travis Jaggers will be responsible for 28 branches in Houston and southeast Texas for the four-year-old Beaumont, Texas, bank. The $1.4 billion-asset bank said in a Thursday press release that it opened a branch in Tomball, Texas, in March and is planning a new location.

With 35 years of banking experience, Jaggers previously served as an executive vice president and chief lending officer at Sterling Bank. Comerica Inc. bought Sterling Bancshares earlier this year.
