VeriFone Systems Inc. on Monday unveiled its Paymedia add-on for gas stations to allow them to accept new payment types and to present advertising on the pump's screen.

The San Jose, Calif., terminal maker said its Paymedia system works with its Secure PumpPay systems. VeriFone launched Paymedia last week, pitching it as a way for retailers to accept alternative payment types at the point of sale.

"VeriFone continues to look for ways to enhance the fueling experience for the consumer while also generating additional revenue from the gas sale for our customers," Dan Yienger, VeriFone's vice president for petroleum sales, said in a press release.

VeriFone said its Paymedia for Secure PumpPay system is now available from resellers.
