SunTrust Chooses NCR's Remote Deposit Capture Technology

SunTrust Banks (STI) announced Tuesday that it has chosen NCR's remote deposit capture technology — APTRA Passport.

The software, developed by the Duluth, Ga. ATM maker, allows SunTrust to track check deposits made from multiple locations, such as branches, ATMs, smartphones, as well as other channels.

"NCR showed us the value of an integrated multichannel RDC platform," said Tom McDermott, SunTrust's senior vice president of cross channel and customer experience, in a press release. "They proposed a solution that allows us to reap the benefits of a shared infrastructure, including what we already had deployed for our ATM network, while at the same time delivering cross-channel benefits from managing deposit risk in real-time across the channels that best meet our needs and client preferences."

SunTrust is already an NCR customer.

This summer, the bank rolled out NCR single-slot mixed-media ATMs. The devices can communicate with chip-enabled mobile phones and accept chip and PIN security protocols.
