CEO of 1st Capital in Calif. Dies

Fred Rowden, the chief executive of 1st Capital Bank in Monterey, Calif., has died.

Mark Andino, who joined 1st Capital in October as chief operating officer, will serve as interim CEO, the $303 million-asset bank said Saturday.

Rowden, 67, who served as CEO since 1st Capital began operations in 2007, worked in the banking industry for more than 40 years. The cause of his death was not disclosed.

"Mr. Rowden will be forever remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit and leadership at 1st Capital Bank, a business that is built on the strong foundation of its employees and has become his legacy," 1st Capital said in a news release.

Andino joined 1st Capital from American Perspective Bank in San Luis Obispo, Calif., where he served as both chief financial officer and COO.
