BBVA Compass Rolls Out Bilingual iPhone App

Birmingham, Ala.-based BBVA Compass announced Monday its iPhone app is now bilingual. The mobile app, which lets customers pay bills and review balances, among other functionalities, is now offered in English and Spanish.

"We currently serve a number of markets with a growing Spanish-speaking population, so we wanted to give those customers access in the language that is most comfortable to them," said Alex Carriles, executive vice president and director of Mobile Strategy and Retail Innovation, in a statement.

The bank said it plans to soon update its other native apps to also include bilingual capabilities.

Beyond a new language, the latest version of BBVA Compass's iPhone app includes other enhancements, like a full feature bill pay service that lets customers issue payments as well as add payees, manage payment source accounts, display past payments and show or cancel pending payments.

All versions of BBVA's iPhone app have earned an average of 2.5 stars from 3,502 ratings in the App Store.
