Fiserv Inc. said Thursday that two of its subsidiaries have filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Fidelity National Information Services Inc. and FIS unit Metavante Corp.

The Brookfield, Wis.-based Fiserv alleged that FIS infringes on Fiserv's patents when it provides customers with certain financial and payment options, such as its Payment Manager products. Payment Manager processes inter-bank account-to-account fund transfers, processes payment instructions and provides electronic biller notifications as part of its electronic bill payment processes. Fiserv units CheckFree Corp. and CashEdge Inc. filed the suit in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

FIS, based in Jacksonville, Fla., did not immediately respond to a call seeking comment.
