Bank of America (BAC) has named a consumer bank executive as its new enterprise chief information officer after Marc Gordon said that he will be stepping down.

Gordon will be replaced by Laurie Readhead, who was most recently the head of consumer bank efficiency efforts and divestitures, Reuters reported on Wednesday.  Readhead will report to Cathy Bessant, head of global technology and operations.

Gordon came to Bank of America in August 2004 from electronics retailer Best Buy (BBY) and was involved with several important hires during his tenure. In March 2011, the company said that it had hired Patrick Gorman as chief information security officer and John Bottega was named chief data officer in December. Gordon was named Enterprise Chief Information Officer on October 28, 2011.

Gordon said in a statement that he was looking forward to a personal change in direction. “One of the highlights of my career has been working with the outstanding group of leaders, technologists and innovators at Bank of America,” said Gordon. “As I look forward, I’m pleased to be leaving the Enterprise CIO team in the capable hands of Laurie Readhead and other leaders around Cathy Bessant’s table.”

“Marc has shared with me his decision to pursue new personal and professional interests,” said Bessant in a statement. “His contributions to Bank of America and GT&O have been substantial, and we will miss his technical knowledge, tremendous business acumen and strong leadership. We wish Marc the best as he makes decisions about his future career path.”
