Sterling in Wash. Adds Mobile Banking Services

Sterling Financial (STSA) in Spokane, Wash., is introducing a set of standard mobile banking services.

The $9.9 billion-asset bank, which has 173 branches in Washington, Oregon, California, and Idaho, announced the launch of its free mobile app on Tuesday. Customers can now use iPhone, iPad, and Android devices to make mobile deposits, pay bills, transfer funds, and view their account balances and transaction histories.

Sterling also introduced a texting service that allows customers to message their bank to view account balances and recent transactions.

"We're excited about providing a suite of mobile banking solutions that address our customers' desire for convenient and on-the-go banking," senior vice president and director of corporate product management and market research Patricia Baughman said in a press release. "By bringing banking to our customers' mobile devices, we can be where they want us, when they want us."
