United Community Banks Renews With Fiserv

United Community Banks in Blairsville, Ga., has renewed its contract with Fiserv and added the fintech company's debit card services.

The $6.7 billion-asset bank has been a Fiserv customer for more than 20 years. With this multiyear extension, United Community (UCBI) will continue to operate on the Fiserv Premier platform, Fiserv said Monday. The bank will add debit card processing to the suite of Fiserv services it uses, which include online banking and bill payment, remote check capture, person-to-person payments and customer and channel management services. United handles these services in-house, the release said.

"We consider this technology a competitive advantage, as we, like other institutions, must maintain outstanding customer satisfaction, lower operating expenses, meaningfully increase operating efficiency and remain focused on improving overall credit measures," said United Community Banks Chief Technology Officer Jim Stewart in the news release.

United Community operates more than 100 branches in Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina. A Fiserv spokeswoman did not disclose the length or financial details of the contract.
