Washington Trust Bank is implementing advanced surveillance video technology from Diebold (DBD) across its branch network.
The bank is replacing its existing digital video recorders with high-definition internet-connected cameras, according to a company release. This is meant to enable the bank to monitor events in real time, immediately identify perpetrators and dispatch authorities, and generate faster responses that help reduce security risks.
The project marks the second phase of the implementation. Diebold, which is based in North Canton, Ohio, completed DVR and IP camera enhancement projects at 15 Washington Trust Bank branches in 2013 including advanced video solutions at the bank's recently remodeled branch locations. This year the technology will be implemented at 21 branches.
The Spokane, Wash.-based commercial bank currently operates 44 branches and offices in Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
