Trustwave Acquires App-Testing Company Cenzic

Cybersecurity firm Trustwave has acquired Cenzic, a company that helps organizations test their applications' vulnerability to hacker attacks.

The deal will allow Trustwave to strengthen its security testing technology for cloud, mobile and web applications, according to a Tuesday press release. As a result of the acquisition, Trustwave will offer firms both static testing — which examines applications for vulnerabilities before they are launched — and dynamic testing, which scans applications for security issues while they are running.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Silicon Valley-based Cenzic tests more than 500,000 online applications, according to the release.

Trustwave, which is headquartered in Chicago, acquired anti-malware technology provider M86 Security in 2012.
