Banks Outperform Other Industries in Web Experience Ratings

For the third straight year, USAA took the top spot in a survey of customers' online experience conducted by the research firm Temkin Group.

Temkin surveyed 10,000 U.S. customers about how satisfied they were with their most recent interaction with the websites of 257 companies across 20 industries. At 76%, USAA was the highest-rated company overall.

Regions Financial followed USAA, landing in the second spot with a 75% rating. It tied with Amazon.

The banking industry overall outperformed other sectors. For instance, banks' websites ranked between USAA's 76% rating and Citigroup at 54%. By comparison, television and internet service providers' websites had satisfaction ratings between 29% and 46%.

Other banks in the top 10% of the survey include: Capital One 360 at 72%; TD Bank at 71%; Wells Fargo at 68%; JPMorgan Chase at 66%; PNC Financial Services at 66%; SunTrust Banks at 64%; and Bank of America, also at 64%.

Discover, Capital One and Chase were also in the top 10% for their credit card businesses, each with a 65% rating. HSBC was the lowest-rated credit card issuer, with a 43% satisfaction rating.
