First Financial Northwest in Washington Adds Two Directors

First Financial Northwest in Renton, Wash., has added a former Sandler O'Neill investment banker and a PacWest Bancorp director to its board.

The $944 million-asset First Financial appointed Kathleen Smythe and Roger Molvar to its board on Friday. First Financial increased its board size to nine directors to include the new additions.

Smythe had been a managing director at Sandler O'Neill, where she advised banks and other financial services companies. Smythe, who left the investment bank in February, previously worked at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods and Banc of America Securities. She's also a former director of Guaranty Bancorp in Denver.

Molvar is a director at the $17 billion-asset PacWest in Los Angeles. He's also a former director of the $5.6 billion-asset Farmers & Merchants Bank of Long Beach; and was chief executive of IndyMac Consumer Bank.

Molvar is also chairman of the SEC and Financial Reporting Institute at the University of Southern California.

Smythe and Molvar were also named to the board of First Financial's two units: First Savings Bank Northwest and First Financial Diversified.
