First West Virginia Bancorp Removes Interim from Chief's Title

First West Virginia Bancorp in Wheeling has removed the interim tag from William Petroplus' title as president and chief executive.

Petroplus, 65, become the company's interim leader after Sylvan Dlesk died unexpectedly in December 2013. Petroplus had previously served as chairman of First West Virginia's nominating committee; he joined the company's board in 1998.

The $332 million-asset company said in a press release late Thursday that Petroplus will also serve as president and CEO of its subsidiary, Progressive Bank.

Progressive has 10 branches, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
