Former Wells Executive Joins Tiny West Coast Bank

Talk about trying the opposite end of the spectrum.

Christopher Cline, a former Wells Fargo executive, has joined the management of a community bank in Vancouver, Wash., to help it build up its wealth management business.

The $390 million-asset Riverview Trust said Monday that it has hired Cline as president and chief operating officer.

He will work with John Karas, the company’s chairman and chief executive, to oversee daily business operations and lead strategic planning and business development efforts. Cline started in March, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Cline was a senior regional fiduciary manager for Wells Fargo, heading up trust services in Oregon and the southwest Washington region since 2008. Before entering financial services, he spent 15 years as an estate planner and was heavily involved in the drafting and revisions of Oregon trust and estate law.

“We’re poised to take advantage of his vast experience working in the estate planning sector and providing legal counsel to high- and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, foundations and trusts,” Karas said in a news release.
