Glen Burnie Bancorp in Maryland has hired an executive from Patapsco Bank to be its new chief financial officer.

John Wright was hired to be CFO of the $402 million-asset holding company and of the Bank of Glen Burnie. Wright will also serve as treasurer for Glen Burnie Bancorp. The appointments are effective Sept. 28.

Wright will succeed John Porter, who is retiring at the end of August. Porter had been CFO since 1995.

Wright is leaving Patapsco Bancorp in Dundalk, Md., as it's being acquired by Howard Bancorp in Ellicott City, Md. Wright has been CFO at Patapsco since April 2012.
