Western Nebraska Bank to Buy Pony Express Community Branch

Western Nebraska Bank in Curtis will buy a branch in Paxton, Neb., from Pony Express Community Bank.

The deal, which is subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close by the end of 2015, according to an Aug. 21 news release. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Paxton branch held $14.3 million in deposits, as of June 30, 2014, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

With the acquisition, the $74 million-asset Western Nebraska Bank will operate four branches in Curtis, North Platte, Paxton and Purdum.

The $90 million-asset Pony Express in St. Joseph, Mo., will continue to operate four branches in Kansas and Missouri. The branch that Pony Express is selling was previously known as the Bank of Paxton, until Pony Express acquired it in 2006.
