Gruenberg Intends to Serve Out Term in Trump Administration

WASHINGTON – Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Chairman Martin Gruenberg said he would not offer his resignation to President-elect Donald Trump.

"My term as chairman runs through November of next year," Gruenberg said during a briefing on the health of the banking industry. "It will be my intention to serve my term."

Gruenberg has a separate term that allows him to serve on the board of the FDIC until December 2018.

Asked about the prospects for deregulation efforts – including the repeal of parts of the Dodd-Frank Act by a Congress that will be held by Republicans in both chambers – Gruenberg declined to comment.

"I think my inclination would not be to speculate," said the chairman. "Let's see how events play."
