Second Reg Relief Meeting Planned for Dallas Next Month

WASHINGTON - Federal bank regulators will gather feedback on regulatory relief ideas at a public meeting on Feb. 4 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, the agencies said Wednesday.

The outreach meeting is the second in a series the agencies are holding as part of a regulatory review mandated under the Economic Growth and Regulatory Paperwork Reduction Act. The 1996 law requires regulators every 10 years to identify rules that are out of date or not necessary. The agencies previously held an EGRPRA meeting last month in Los Angeles.

Attending the Dallas meeting will be Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Chairman Martin Gruenberg, Federal Reserve Board Gov. Jerome Powell, Comptroller of the Currency Thomas Curry and Texas Banking Commissioner Charles Cooper. The session will include presentations from panels comprising of bank executives as well as consumer and community advocates.

Three subsequent meetings are planned: in Boston on May 4, Chicago on Oct. 19 and Washington D.C. on Dec. 2. The agencies are also planning to hold an additional outreach meeting focused on issues related to rural banks.
