Regions Financial in Birmingham, Ala., has hired a Bank of New York Mellon executive as head of its corporate trust group.

The $122 billion-asset company said Monday that it had named Julz Burgess to succeed Kevin Kirby, who recently retired.

Burgess will lead the corporate trust group, which is organized under the institutional services division of Regions' wealth management business. Regions' corporate trust group services $126 billion in outstanding debt on behalf of its clients.

In her new role, Burgess directs business opportunities with an emphasis on client service and retention. Burgess, who is based in Atlanta, also manages the Escrow Services business within corporate trust.

At Bank of New York Mellon, Burgess most recently was managing director of its U.S. corporate finance client service management team. She also headed the corporate finance team for the corporate trust group and was managing director of U.S. sales and relationship management.
