New digital banking chief at First Horizon

First Horizon National in Memphis, Tenn., has recruited an executive from Webster Financial in Connecticut to oversee digital banking and marketing efforts across the company.

The $41 billion-asset First Horizon said Friday that it had named Dawn Morris an executive vice president and chief digital banking and marketing officer. Morris' responsibilities include customer experience initiatives.

The company said the role is not an entirely new position but rather an expanded role. Morris will report directly to the CEO and will be a member of the executive management team.

Morris "has an impressive track record of building customer-centric marketing and digital strategies that drive differentiation and growth,” Chairman and CEO Bryan Jordan said in a press release. “We ... look forward to her leadership as we broaden our brand and customer experience strategies across our expanded footprint.”

Morris was the executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Webster Financial in Waterbury, Conn., where she oversaw marketing and also built out Webster’s digital marketing function, First Horizon said.

Before she joined Webster in 2014, she worked for RBS Citizens Financial Group in a number of retail and business banking positions, like product and segment marketing, and business banking product management. Before that, she worked in several business lines and marketing roles at RBC Bank in North Carolina.

Morris is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and served as a captain in the Army’s 530th Supply and Service Battalion at Fort Bragg, N.C.
