CFPB Announces Four Staff Additions

WASHINGTON — The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau named new senior staff in four different divisions Monday.

Among the new staff additions is Kathleen (Kitty) Ryan, a former senior regulatory counsel at JPMorgan Chase, who will serve as deputy assistant director in the CFPB's Office of Regulations. At JPMorgan Chase, Ryan focused on regulatory issues related to mortgages and other consumer products. She was previously senior counsel in the Federal Reserve's division of consumer and community affairs, and has also been a staff attorney at the Department of Justice and the Department of Education.

Cheryl Parker Rose has been hired to be assistant director in the CFPB's Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. She was most recently deputy director of U.S. government relations for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The CFPB named Christopher Carroll as assistant director and chief economist in the CFPB's Office of Research. Carroll will take a leave of absence from his academic position at Johns Hopkins University. He is on the board of directors for the National Bureau of Economic Research and is co-chair of the NBER Research Group on Consumption.

The consumer bureau also announced that Elizabeth Ellis, who had served as senior advisor to the CFPB's chief of staff, will now become deputy assistant director in the Office of Financial Institutions and Business Liaison.
