Cat in Trouble — Who You Gonna Call? How About a Banker?

Nobody can resist a kitten, not even a banker.

Lisa Green, an employee at the First Federal Savings Bank of Iowa (FFFD) branch in downtown Burlington, Iowa, came to the rescue after hearing the cries of a kitten in distress last week, local newspaper The Hawk Eye reported on Friday.

The kitten was trapped in a ventilation pipe in an alley next to the bank, where Green and others discovered it last Monday.

"I could hear it through the mic through the drive-thru. It was so sad to listen to every day," Green told the newspaper.

After calling the police, animal control, the fire department and others that said they were unable to help because the kitten was on private property, Green reached out to the owner of the neighboring building to get permission to perform a rescue.

Green and some volunteers successfully grabbed the feline on Thursday, The Hawk Eye reports, and she has since offered to adopt it. The new kitten will be the younger sibling of her older cat, Buffy.

"I've always been an animal lover. I had rescued some other cats and was able to get them adopted out, too," Green told the newspaper, adding that this is her first kitty rescue in almost a decade.

So far, the yet-to-be-named kitten appears to be making a full recovery, The Hawk Eye reports.

"He might look a little dehydrated, but that's about it," Green said. "He definitely wants to be loved."
