The head of consumer payments at Google Inc., who was working on the company's mobile wallet, has resigned.

Vikas Gupta joined Google a year and a half ago when the company bought the virtual goods payment platform, Jambool. Gupta was a founder and chief executive of Jambool.

Gupta's departure was first reported by AllThingsD, which also reported last week that Stephanie Tilenius, who worked on the Google's  mobile payments as vice president of commerce, is moving to a new role overseeing Google's global commerce strategy, AllThingsD reported separately. Tilenius was one of the executives who unveiled Google Wallet in May.
