Heritage Bank & Trust in Columbia, Tenn., has hired a veteran Tennessee banker as its new president and chief lending officer.

Ben Rudd, a former city president for Farmers and Merchants Bank in Trezevant, Tenn., joined the $115 million-asset Heritage on Tuesday. At Farmers and Merchants, Rudd was responsible for Bolivar, a town in southwestern Tennessee, for more than a decade/

Rudd succeeded Paul Watson, who resigned this summer. Rudd brings "a vast knowledge of the banking industry and a depth of experience in financial service and product delivery, combined with outstanding leadership skills," Jim Robinson, Heritage's chief executive, said in a press release.

Heritage, which was formed in 2005, operates two branches in Columbia.
