Both Democrats and Republicans went easy on Jamie Dimon at the Senate Banking Committee hearing on June 13, but GOP fawning over the JPMorgan chief executive drew the ire of "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart on Thursday night.

Stewart featured sound bites from Sens. Jim DeMint, Bob Corker and Mike Johanns, praising Dimon for his profits, his firepower and for being "one of the best CEO's in the country."

"Is there a Mrs. Dimon?" Stewart cracked, implying lawmakers were in love with the CEO.

He also blasted Republicans for suggesting that over-regulation and ineffective reforms in the Dodd-Frank Act were to blame for the bank's losses — a line of inquiry that made even Dimon appear uncomfortable.

"It must be fun being a Republican senator, because you get the job of breaking [expletive], and then complaining that the [expletive] you just broke doesn't work," Stewart said.

Stewart noted that the hardest person on Dimon was Dimon himself. Yet he managed to pull it off with confidence.

Perhaps it was a boost he got from those special cufflinks with the presidential seal? Dimon was spotted with the cufflinks on his way to the hearing.

CNBC's John Carney said the cufflinks were a gift from a resident of the White House, but it's not clear which president gave them to him.

Dimon also apparently has a number of other official government cufflinks, Carney said, but he chose the presidential ones for the hearing because they are his most patriotic, according to a source close to the CEO.
