JPM Hires Morgan Stanley Exec to Run Financial Institutions Group

JPMorgan Chase (JPM) has hired Travis Machen from Morgan Stanley (MS) to run a group that provides banking for financial institutions.

The nation's biggest bank by assets said Tuesday that Machen will oversee the commercial bank unit that serves hedge funds, broker dealers, insurance companies, asset managers and other institutional investors with $50 million to $25 billion in assets.

Machen co-led Morgan Stanley's North American banks group, part of the company's investment banking division, since 2006. He was previously a vice president with Keefe, Bruyette & Woods.

Machen's "experience will be essential to effectively address the rapidly changing regulatory environment that continues to affect this industry," Rob Holmes, head of J.P. Morgan corporate client banking, said in a press release.
