Kearny Financial Corp. (KRNY) in Fairfield, N.J., has picked its next chief investment officer.

Khanh Vuong has been named senior vice president and chief risk and investment officer for the company, which owns the $2.9 billion-asset Kearny Federal Savings Bank. He has added oversight of the bank's day-to-day investment activities to his previous responsibilities as chief risk officer.

He will work with Kearny's newly formed capital markets committee and report to Chief Executive Craig Montanaro.

Vuong takes over as CIO from Albert Gossweiler, who plans to retire in June.

Vuong joined Kearny in 2011 from A.M. Best, where he had been head of the bank-rating group, which analyzes the financial health of community banks throughout the country.
