RBC Capital Hires Jason Levitz, Peter Spinelli in Financial Practice

RBC Capital Markets recently added two bankers to its financial institutions practice.

Jason Levitz is a managing director of U.S. equity markets in charge of originating transactions in the financial and health care sectors. He was previously a managing director in Barclays Capital's equity capital markets group.

Peter Spinelli was named a managing director in charge of asset management coverage. He previously served in a similar role at Citigroup (C).

The hires are part of a broader effort in recent years by RBC Capital's parent, Royal Bank of Canada (RY),  to bulk up its U.S. investment banking coverage.

The financial institutions practice has been led since last year by Henry Michaels and Jerry Wiant, who have brought on more than a dozen of the practice's 30 employees. The practice advises banks with assets of $5 billion to $50 billion on mergers, capital-raising and other matters.
