Urban Partnership Bank in Chicago has lured a former Citibank executive out of retirement to lead its consumer banking operations.
Darryl P. Hendricks, a 30-year Citi veteran, joined the $892 million Urban Partnership earlier this month. Before retiring two years ago, he had spent a decade as president of Citibank Illinois, overseeing the bank's roughly 70 Illinois branches. Hendricks also has worked at Charles Schwab.
Throughout his career Hendricks "has shown an ability to build strong teams, work closely with customers and colleagues, implement new technologies and create a culture where excellent service is recognized and celebrated," Levoi K. Brown, Urban Trust's chief banking officer, said in a press release Tuesday.
According to a report in Crain's Chicago Business, Hendricks was enjoying retirement and contemplating volunteer work when he received a call "out of the blue" about becoming Urban Partnership's director of consumer banking. Hendricks, 64, is responsible for financial product sales, customer service, and operations at the bank's nine financial centers in Chicago and Detroit.
