William Harrison on Why a Dual CEO/Chairman Is Good for Banks

A "terrible idea" is how the former JPMorgan Chase (JPM) boss describes the idea of splitting the Chairman and CEO roles now held by Jamie Dimon, and up for a shareholder vote on May 21. Harrison, who himself held both roles, is chairman of Cadence Bancorp LLC and lead director at Merck & Co., sees forced splits as creating unnecessary bureaucracy at the top of complex organizations.
