Edie Murphree

Vice President for Finance

Ms. Murphree was named as the Vice President for Finance at Emory University effective November 1, 2003.  As the institution’s chief financial officer, she is responsible for the functional areas of Finance, Office of Grant and Contract Accounting, Office of the Controller, Cash and Debt Management, and Procurement and Payment Services, Contract Compliance and Administration, Student Financial Services and Payroll. These areas include over 140 staff members.Ms. Murphree serves on numerous University committees and boards, including the University Ways and Means Committee, Administrative Council, Information Technology Steering Committee, Financial Officers Forum, Compass Sounding Board and Executive Committees, Emory Alliance Credit Union Board, and the Emory Healthcare Pension Board. In addition, she serves as a liaison to the Emory Finance Committee of the Board of TrusteesPrior to her current role, Ms. Murphree served as Associate Vice President of Administration and as Associate Vice President for Finance and Controller at Emory.  Before coming to Emory in 1987, Ms. Murphree worked for the University of Alabama as the Director of Financial Accounting and Reporting where she started her higher education career in 1978.  Ms. Murphree graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor of science in accounting.  She earned a master’s degree of business administration in finance from Georgia State University.
