Nikolai J. Sklaroff is a Managing Director and investment banker with Loop Capital in SanFrancisco. Nikolai has spent more than 24 years in the public finance industry, specializing incredit engineering difficult and unusual financings. He has worked across the nation with manyfinancing teams to help them structure financings that have addressed investor, credit enhancerand rating agency concerns, and to achieve investment grade ratings through innovative creditstructures.In his 24 years in public finance, he has served as an investment banker for 13 years, a seniorrating analyst and a financial advisor. At J. P. Morgan he was an Executive Director and Head ofCultural Institutions Investment Banking and prior to that he was a Director with CitigroupGlobal Markets (originally Smith Barney). Prior to becoming an investment banker in 1997,Nikolai was a senior Moody’s Investors Service rating agency analyst and member of Moody'srating committee for eight years. Nikolai began his career as a financial advisor with PublicFinancial Management, Inc. in Philadelphia.A frequent speaker at industry conferences he has also served as a Board Member of the nationalmunicipal leasing association, the Association for Governmental Leasing & Finance (AGL&F)and a Member of the California State Treasurer’s California Debt and Investment AdvisoryCommission (CDIAC) Technical Advisory Committee.Nikolai graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School with a Bachelor ofScience (Economics) with a major in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in PoliticalScience from the College of Art and Sciences, with a concentration in Public Policy. He receiveda Master of Arts in Western European Economics and Politics from the University of Durham,University College, in England. He also studied Public Administration at Columbia University’sSchool of International and Public Affairs in New York prior to relocating to San Francisco withMoody’s.
