\nA highly regarded Certified Financial Planner™ professional, Shelly Church counsels clients on investment, financial and estate planning. Her focus includes conservation of family resources, as well as protection from income and inheritance taxes and inflation. As 1984 founder of Diversified Financial Group, Inc., Shelly served as its president until 1994. That year, she joined Raymond James & Associates as a vice president of investments and served on the firm’s Women’s Advisory Council for 12 years. Formed to provide support to female financial advisors, one of the council’s primary objectives is to mentor those in need of guidance and advice. Shelly is passionate about her role as a mentor and currently offers her time to regularly coach several female advisors new to the business. By meeting strict educational and background experience requirements, she has also been awarded the distinction of a seat on the Raymond James Financial Advisors Council, was a member of the Raymond James President’s Club from 1996 to 2000, and has been recognized with Chairman’s Council honors since 2001. In addition, Shelly was named by Raymond James Financial Chairman Tom James to the firm’s Executive Council, and served from October 2003 to October 2005. In October 2010, Shelly was acknowledged by her firm as a “Woman of Distinction.”\n\n\nShelly is not only published in the investment advisory field but is also a public speaker for high-profile educational events. She was featured in the October 2002 issue of On Wall Street as a specialist in divorce planning, and again in February 2005. In August, 2006, Shelly was featured in Financial Planning magazine, in an article regarding financing planning for blended families. In 2009 and 2010, Shelly was chosen by Barron’s as one of the Top 1000 financial advisors in the U.S.\n\n\nA Certified Financial Planner® professional since 1989, she earned her Certified Commercial Investment Membership designation and is a past member of the Estate Planning Council of Naples.\n\n\nActive in her community, she is a former member of the board of directors and president for the T.E.C.H. Foundation. In 1994, T.E.C.H. honored her as Humanitarian of the Year. Since graduating from Leadership Collier in 1992, she has also served on the Leadership Collier Advisory Board and as former chairman of the Leadership Collier Alumni Committee. Shelly’s passion is the American Heart Association. She was president of the board of the American Heart Association in Collier County from 2001 to 2004 and chaired the 1999 and 2000 Heartwalks for Collier County. Shelly received the Volunteer of the Year award from the American Heart Association in 2001 from the Collier County Chapter. In June 2006, she was awarded the prestigious Special Service Award for outstanding service at the Florida Affiliate level of the American Heart Association. Shelly has been “top walker” in the state of Florida for over 10 years for dollars raised for the Collier County Heartwalk. She continues to raise money annually in memory of her son, Kyle Fernstrom, who in February 2005, at the age of 18, lost his lifelong battle with heart disease.\n\n\nIn December 2005, Shelly was named to the board of the Boggy Creek Gang, a camp located in North Florida started in 1996 by Paul Newman & Norman Schwarzkopf, which serves chronically ill and terminally ill children. She currently serves as treasurer of the board, and chairs the finance and investment committees.\n\n\nShelly became a board member for the Forum Club of Southwest Florida in 2008, an organization that brings national and international speakers to Naples. She served on the board for three years and now serves as the treasurer of the organization.\n\n
