Vice President, Regions Banks
Elizabeth Scribner
Elizabeth Scribner is a Vice President at Regions Banks on the Transaction Fraud Strategy Team. She currently leads Fraud Team engagement across the Bank as part of two strategic objectives to mitigate fraud risks associated with new product development and to improve client experience around fraud protection efforts. Scribner joined Regions in February 2017 as a validation analyst on the Model Risk Management and Validation Team, where she focused on Capital Markets models and Fraud Detection models. During her first year, she co-founded the Regions Analytics Institute, an internal analytics training platform designed to cultivate quantitative programming skills among Risk Management associates while also forging diverse relationships across different groups at the Bank. Her 2019 BankThink article, “It Takes More Than Developers to Make AI Pay Off,” underscores the importance of leveraging training, collaboration, and conversation to break down corporate silos and ensure the successful development and deployment of Artificial Intelligence. Scribner also presented on the topic Fair Banking & Ethical AI at the 2019 Annual Regions Quant Summit and recently testified before the Ethics, Privacy & Security Subcommittee of the State of Alabama AI Commission.

Prior to joining Regions, Scribner received her PhD in Applied Mathematics from UAB, where she taught undergraduate calculus and pre-calculus courses while developing a model of brain tumor growth as part of her dissertation research using C++ programming, the Alabama Supercomputer, and Matlab. She holds a B.A. in History of Science from Princeton University and is active in various civic leadership positions in her hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, including the Advisory Board of Southern Research and the Kaul Pediatric Research Institute. Scribner is a proud mother of three children and enjoys playing duets on the piano with her two daughters and hide-and-seek with her three-year-old son.
