Dr. Gavin Michael is the Head of Technology for Citi’s Global Consumer Bank (GCB), a team dedicated to providing services that enable growth and economic progress for individuals and businesses around the world.

Gavin leads a team of more than 15,000 employees who are committed to providing innovative, digital first solutions for Citi’s 100 million customers worldwide. In partnership with Citi’s consumer businesses and functions including Operations, Cards, Mortgage, Retail Bank, Retail Services, Commercial and FinTech, the GCB Technology team serves as a trusted financial partner to our clients and works tirelessly to develop reliable, stable and reusable IT solutions and services for business partners and customers.

The Technology team supports Citi's drive toward becoming the world's digital bank by delivering distinctive customer experiences through industry-leading technology. Gavin is responsible for the long-term strategic direction, planning and management of Citi’s global technology organization, execution of its cloud architecture, data and services strategies, and driving digitization efforts to accelerate speed to market. Gavin has a wealth of international experience driving an enterprise-wide digital agenda and a unique blend of expertise in branch technology innovation, data analytics, product design, engineering and core and consumer technology. Before joining Citi, he was Head of Digital for Consumer & Community Banking at Chase where he was responsible for the technology and engineering teams as well as Customer Experience and Design, Product and Payments, Platform and Delivery, Data Intelligence and Data Analytics. Prior to Chase, Gavin was the Chief Technology Innovation Officer at Accenture with responsibility for the innovation agenda, technology strategy, research and development. He has also held senior technology roles at Lloyd’s Bank and IBM. Gavin earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Australian National University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Western Australia. He was named 2016 “Digital Banker of the Year” by American Banker.
