Pillsbury partner Mercedes Tunstall, a former FTC lawyer and bank in-house counsel, is a Chambers USA-noted leader in consumer financial services regulation and compliance.

Mercedes leverages significant consumer financial services experience to counsel clients regarding federal banking regulators and defends clients against enforcement actions taken by these regulators, especially the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. She also works closely with banks, nonbanks and fintechs on the development of new financial products and services. Drawing on her FTC experience, Mercedes works with companies in a variety of industries on advertising, privacy and cybersecurity issues, as well as FTC defense.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
Defended a client against a CFPB civil investigative demand that led to an enforcement action alleging unfair, deceptive or abusive acts or practices and FCRA violations.

Assisted a leading payments company in a complete overhaul of its advertising review practices, policies and procedures, and conducted an in-depth analysis of its advertising in preparation for regulatory examination.

Worked with a fintech looking to become a credit bureau and addressed concerns involving the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), state licensing, and international privacy and credit reporting laws.
