Tom Doherty
Managing Director and Head of Business Banking , CIBC US

Tom is Managing Director and Head of Business Banking. He oversees the Business Banking division which specializes in businesses with annual revenues up to $50 million. This role involves management of Relationship Managers in four states as well as oversight of the credit process through dedicated Portfolio Managers and Client Specialists.

Tom most recently served as Senior Vice President and Group Manager for Small Business and Retail Banking at First Chicago Bank and Trust. Responsibilities included managing a team of Business Banking Relationship Managers and overseeing the bank's seven retail branches through a network of Regional Market Managers and in-branch Customer Service Managers.

Before his time with First Chicago, Tom was Group Senior Vice President of Business Banking in the Midwest for LaSalle Bank, part of ABN AMRO Bank. Tom's responsibilities included managing 80 Relationship Managers as well as a centralized credit underwriting and portfolio management center, risk management, reporting and project management, and small business marketing.

Prior experience includes the positions of Business Banking Regional Manager at Bank One in Chicago and Branch Manager and Business Banker with First Union National Bank in Orlando, Florida. He started his career at Barnett Bank in Stuart, Florida in their Commercial Management Training program, later serving in commercial banking as as a Branch Manager.

Tom graduated from Northern Illinois University with a B.S. degree in Finance and holds an M.B.A. from Crummer Graduate School at Rollins College in Florida.
