Alejandro E. Carriles

Director of Mobile and Online Banking , BBVA Compass
Alejandro Carriles is the director of Mobile and Online Banking for BBVA Compass. In this role, he is responsible for the development, design and User Experience of the bank's flagship digital channels.

Prior to assuming responsibility for BBVA Compass' digital channels, he served in a number of roles for the bank including director of user experience, head of mobile strategy and retail innovation and director of research and development. He also worked as the director of operations for BBVA USA. Prior to BBVA and BBVA Compass, Carriles served as CEO of technology firms Inc. and Datacorp Limited.

Carriles has more than 20 years of experience in technology and digital services and has led industry-leading projects, such as Stand Alone Enrollment for Mobile Banking, Virtual Banker, and the patent pending Easy Payments and Transfers solution. His teams' efforts have earned numerous accolades, including the Innovation in Banking Technology Award from Financial Times' The Banker Magazine in 2009 and recognition from Javelin Research as a Mobile Banking Leader in 2016 for 3 years in a row, and Online Banking Leader in 2016. Additionally, Carriles was included in Bank Innovation's 2013 Innovators to Watch.

Carriles earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México. He also holds an M.B.A from the Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de Empresa (IPADE) in León, México City.
