JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - (03/06/06) - AmeriServ Financial Inc. announcedFriday it is closing its investment advisory subsidiary, AmeriServAssociates Inc., which provides investment advise through areacredit unions and community banks. The company said the investmentadvisory service no longer fits its strategic direction. AmeriServAssociates will cease normal operations on March 31.
The Cleveland-based bank is projecting steady growth in net interest income even as credit losses remain manageable. But Chairman and CEO Chris Gorman also said that he thinks a recession is likely.
