Ariz. CU Giant To Convert Charters

DM FCU is converting to a state charter that will encompass more than two million residents of southern Arizona in Pima, Pinal and part of Maricopa counties.

The $800-million credit union, which was chartered to serve employees at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, still serves the base, as well as more than 1,800 select groups.

DM FCU is the largest credit union in the area with almost 100,000 members. Credit union officials are seeking a new name to reflect the new market.

Separately, Tucson FCU has received approval from NCUA to convert to a community charter serving the one million residents of Pima County, which surrounds Tucson.
