Bankruptcy FIlings Remains Relatively High

Bankruptcy filings among consumers remain high. According to data released Dec. 3 by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, there were 388,864 new non-business bankruptcy filings in the U.S. during the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2004, including 274,196 Chapter 7 filings and 114,454 Chapter 13 filings.
