Banks And CUs Join For DowntownRedevelopment

LA CROSSE, Wis. - (05/11/06) Two credit unions have teamedup with local banks to create a $5 million, low-interest loan poolto finance downtown improvements. Downtown Mainstreet Inc. willprovide loans from $10,000 to $250,000 to downtown building ownersand tenants. Participants include Community CU and Altra FCU, aswell as Wells Fargo, State Bank of La Crosse, Coulee Bank, U.S.Bank, M&I Bank among others. The loans can bused for purposeslike remodeling, creating low- to moderate-income housing, parkinglots, signs and landscaping improvements.
